🇲🇽 Critical Review: The Plan of San Luis (1910) The Plan of San Luis, proclaimed by Francisco I. Madero on October 5, 1910, is one of the most important documents in Mexican history, as it marked the formal beginning of the Mexican Revolution. In this plan, Madero denounced the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz, who had remained in power for more than 30 years, and called on the Mexican people to rise up in arms on November 20 of the same year. From a historical perspective, the Plan of San Luis represented a break with the established order of the Porfiriato. During this period, Mexico experienced economic growth, but also deep social inequality. Wealth was concentrated in the hands of a few, while peasants and workers lived in conditions of poverty and exploitation.
